Birthday Celebration
Lifestyle&Leisure

If you happen to be in Bali during your birthday, setting up a party isn’t hard at all. Whether it’s a party for two or for a big crowd, Bali has everything to make it a memorable. Check out the best foods and beverages for your party...

While many people try not to celebrate their birthdays, others with young hearts see birthdays as the perfect time to host a celebratory party. Some adults think that birthday celebrations are just for kids, but for those who choose to celebrate, a birthday party is a perfect time to be with loved ones and share the joy with their special people. Or at least it is a good excuse to party hard!

If you happen to be in Bali during your birthday, setting up a party isn’t hard at all. Whether it’s a party for two or for a big crowd, Bali has everything to make it a memorable.

SIP THE SPIRIT
Although Indonesia has strict regulations about alcohol, as a major tourist destination Bali has a special exception. Alcohol consumption is tolerated in this province and there are many stores where you can buy beer, wine and spirits.

The price of alcohol is considered high as compared with neighboring countries, but still there is no real party without booze, so you have to be smart when choosing the right drinks that will please your guests. Men love beer, and surely beer is everyone’s favorite when other drinks don’t work well. For those who want to buy large amounts of beer, they should head towards big supermarkets or hypermarts such as Lottemart, Hardy’s, Carrefour or the Nirmala Supermarket in Jimbaran.

You can also find a wide list of spirits in those marts, from local varieties to the popular world famous brands. If you’re tempted to try the local spirits, try the Iceland Vodka or Drum Green Label Whisky. Drum Green Label Whisky has the unique taste of 4 year old whisky that is good to have straight as shots, or mixed in a cocktail, while the Iceland Vodka offers an easy way to create a light refreshment to cheer up the crowd. For more flavor choices, perhaps Balimoon will satisfy your need with its wide selection of liqueurs. Choose tropical inspiration from the coconut-flavored vodka, or perhaps you need Curacao and Tequila? Another option for spirits is Cointreau, where you can use the orange inspiration for a drink your guests will never forget.

If you’d prefer to serve wine, many choices of wine are widely available in those supermarkets or in wine shops. Opt for the imported ones for pride, or perhaps expand your vino experience by trying Bali’s best wine selections. Artisan has good choices of Margaret River’s Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and its own pride, Classic. Cape Discovery has the refreshing Sauvignon Blanc while the new rising star is Sababay, which has the local grape in two choices, Black Velvet and Pink Blossom.

FOOD AND CATERING
Food is of course very essential and for sure there is no party without it. When cooking is not possible and you’re far away from home, trust the experts to bring the food. If booking a restaurant is too much, perhaps a small party within a villa or hotel room should be arranged, and don’t worry too much about providing food. With the number of tourists visiting the island the demand for food providers for special occasions has been skyrocketing. Not only are restaurants getting busier, the number of catering companies are flourishing as well. More and more companies are competing and claiming that they can serve the best food within a short amount of time.

A good example of food providers is BaliEpicure Villa Luxury Services. This company started their business about two years ago, and has become one of the most reliable services in the island. Founded by ISC Travel, a company with over twenty years of experience in hospitality management with its corporate headquarters in Europe and United States, BaliEpicure can manage any impromptu request, as long as the requested menu items don’t require any difficult ingredients that are hard to get or have to be prepared far in advance. This quick service is also available for parties whose invitation numbers are not too many.

From canapés, a sushi bar, Western or Indonesian buffet, the menu is mostly quoted based on minimum of 30 people. If you wish to order for fewer guests, the price will be adjusted to your request; it’s as simple as that.

BaliEpicure is planning to expand their business by providing a party venue, so guests can have less hassle when hosting a party. They also offer in-room dining and spa services for villa residents, so they can get ultimate privacy and 5-star hotel food quality.

Another choice of a catering service is Dijon Bali. First opened in 1999, Dijon Bali was the only gourmet delicatessen in Bali that sold fine imported goods in small sizes. Following on their success, the Dijon Bali Cafe arrived in 2001 and Dijon Bali Catering appeared in 2009. Today they do retail, some wholesale, and catering.
Recently Dijon Bali opened its newly renovated café, which is located in Simpang Siur and opened a new café in Ubud. They can do parties and weddings, brunch or lunch, cocktails or canapés or even a garden party barbeque, so you know where to ask for good food service.

Happy birthday and have a blast of a celebration!
