When there are so many ways to indulge, why choose the ordinary?


If you are a fan of action spy movies then you are surely familiar with the catchphrase “Shaken, not stirred”, made famous by Ian Fleming’s creation, James Bond. This of course referred to one of the world’s favorite drinks, martini – the elixir of quietude, as quoted by the novelist, E. B. White.

This drink is basically a simple blend of gin and vermouth (or vodka instead of gin as Bond preferred it) created back in 1920s. But the martini lost its fame in the 70s and 80s when it was considered old-fashioned. But since the 90s, the martini has made a huge comeback with a new face – or should we say, faces. New drinks with the use of the name ‘martini’ or the suffix ‘tini’ were born and became instant hits, such as the lychee martini, appletini, chocolate martini and espresso martini. But how many are there out there in the world?
